Sefydlwyd Cymdeithas Ddinesig Bro Porthaethwy yn 1973; mae gennym statws elusennol. Buom yn gweithio’n galed i sicrhau fod Porthaethwy yn cael ei dynodi yn Ardal Gadwraeth ac rydym yn parhau i fonitro ceisiadau cynllunio newydd a rhoi gwybod i drigolion am ddatblygiadau sydd ar ddod.
Mae’r bygythiad mwyaf yn dod o ‘or-ddatblygiadau’ a datblygiadau anaddas, yn enwedig yn hen ran y dref gyda’i nodweddion o ddiddordeb hanesyddol a thirwedd naturiol, a’r arfordir, lle mae gwasanaethau a gofod yn gyfyngedig. Mae safleoedd sy’n eiddo i’r Cyngor Sir a Chyngor y Dref yn dod o dan bwysau o dro i dro e.e. Cae Chwarae’r Brenin Siôr V ac rydym yn trio sicrhau eu bod yn cael eu cadw yn “wyrdd”, ac ar gael i bobl y dref yn unol â dymuniadau’r rhoddwyr. Ein prif nod felly yw sicrhau ein bod yn cadw mannau gwyrdd, gwarchod ein Hardal Gadwraeth ddynodedig ac annog safonau uchel o gynllunio, dylunio a bywyd dinesig.

The Menai Bridge & District Civic Society was founded in 1973; we have charitable status. We worked hard to ensure that Menai Bridge was designated as a Conservation Area and continue to monitor new planning applications and keep residents informed of impending Developments.
The main threat is from ‘over’ and inappropriate development, especially in the old part of the town with its features of historic and natural landscape interest and the shore, where services and space are limited. Sites owned by the County Council and Town Council come under pressure from time to time e.g. George V Recreation Ground and we try to ensure they are kept “green”, and available to the townspeople in line with the wishes of the donors. Our main aim therefore is to ensure that we preserve green spaces, protect our designated Conservation area and encourage high standards of planning, design and civic life.
